“Music with Jackie” is a music, singing and movement programme designed for babies, toddlers and preschool children with their accompanying parent/carer.
Established in 2003 “Music with Jackie” has captured the hearts and minds of hundreds of families in Edinburgh, winning the Netmums “Favourite Preschool Class” of 2012.
Classes strongly emphasize and facilitate parental involvement. Families are encouraged to interact as much as possible in the class and to take what they share with their child in the class into the family home and make music an integral part of their everyday lives.
Classes are fun, upbeat, creative and “live”. What I mean by live is the absence of recorded music. All the music is made by myself, singing and playing guitar and by the children and yourselves singing and playing various percussion instruments.
I have a huge repertoire of traditional and original songs, action songs, finger rhymes, musical games and stories using many soft toys and other props to illustrate and bring the songs to life for your child.
Classes take place at the “Pregnancy and Parents Centre in Fountainbridge. The Pregnancy and Parents Centre is a friendly and welcoming not-for-profit organisation that works with parents-to-be and families in Edinburgh.
There is always a warm welcome for you and your child here. Classes are followed by free coffee/ tea and a biscuit which gives you a chance to meet with and socialise with other parents while your child plays with toys and the other children in a relaxed and happy environment. No need to rush out of the door either so you can feed, change nappies or simply chat as needed.
Classes are now also available in the East Lothian area. Currently classes run in Aberlady . Please see the East Lothian page.
If you are unable to attend any of these classes because of work commitments and your child is at Nursery I can offer free trial classes if you ask your Nursery to contact me.
